you have Japanese prints to sell? Consign
them to artelino. Chikamatsu Manzaemon, 1623-1724,
was a famous playwright - first for the Kabuki theater and later for Bunraku,
the Japanese puppet theater. The print series 'Supplements of the Complete Works
of Chikamatsu' was published around 1923 and consisted of 18 prints. Each print
was designed by a different and well-established artist of the time. And each
design represents a character from one of the play's written by Chikamatsu.

of the British Museum. But few art aficionados know his name outside Germany and
Franconia. Konrad Volkert went his own way as a passionate artist who portrayed
his beloved Franconian homeland, the region with Nuremberg as its cultural and
economic center. Biography
Konrad Volkert In 1600 twenty-three half-starved Dutch
sailors and one Englishman under the lead of Captain Will Adams landed in Usuki
Bay in Kyushu, the southern Japanese island. This was the beginning of a successful
Dutch trade monopoly with Japan that lasted until 1854. However, the presence
of the Dutch was restricted to the tiny, artificial island of Deshima in Nagasaki
harbor. The

made in lithograph technique were rather popular during the Meiji period. However
among collectors of Japanese prints, Meiji lithographs are not well known. Maybe
it is the lack of literature in English about this very interesting aspect of
Japanese art history that kept these prints in the dark. Meiji
