Chikamatsu Manzaemon, 1623-1724, was a famous playwright - first for the Kabuki theater and later for Bunraku, the Japanese puppet theater. The print series 'Supplements of the Complete Works of Chikamatsu' was published around 1923 and consisted of 18 prints.
